6IX Assembly Gives Back · Toronto

A little help.
A home that works.

Our Community Support Program offers free or reduced-cost essential furniture assembly for Toronto households facing financial or practical barriers.

A small, three-month pilot: October 15, 2026–January 14, 2027. Thoughtful support, one household at a time.

Sometimes the missing piece is an extra pair of hands.

A bed that needs assembling. A dresser that needs securing. A table that makes a new place feel more like home.

We set aside a limited amount of our team's time to help neighbours who cannot comfortably manage the work themselves or afford professional assembly. The focus is practical help, not asking people to turn their circumstances into a story.

Our regular paid work helps us make room for this limited community support.

Who this is for

Support without unnecessary hurdles.

Toronto residents can apply when paying the usual assembly cost or completing the work without help is a genuine barrier. You can apply for yourself or refer someone with their permission.

01 / EVERYDAY ESSENTIALS

Households under financial pressure

Including low-income households and single parents who need help getting essential furniture ready to use.

02 / PRACTICAL SUPPORT

People facing physical barriers

Including seniors and people with disabilities who cannot comfortably or safely manage assembly on their own.

03 / A FRESH START

People setting up a stable home

Including people moving out of shelters or navigating another difficult life transition.

These are examples, not a checklist you must fit. A short explanation is enough to start. We do not ask for a diagnosis, income statement or personal history.

How it works

A straightforward first step.

01 / TELL US WHAT YOU NEED

Send a short request

Tell us your general location, the furniture involved and a safe way to contact you. Share only the practical details needed.

02 / WE REVIEW THE FIT

We confirm scope and support

We consider need, essential use, safety, time and available capacity. Any reduced-price contribution is confirmed in writing before booking.

03 / WE ARRANGE A VISIT

Book an approved appointment

Approved visits are arranged around available capacity. We confirm a two-hour arrival window and review the finished work with you.

A few useful answers

Before you apply.

Is the service completely free?

Support may cover all or part of the approved labour. We confirm exactly what is included and any contribution in writing before booking. There is no fee to apply, no obligation to accept a paid option and no extra work is charged without your agreement.

What does three technician-hours mean?

It is the total on-site working time across the crew, not three hours for every person. For example, one technician for up to three hours or two technicians for up to 90 minutes uses the same allowance. We assess the work first so an approved essential item can be completed safely. Travel and administration are tracked separately by our team.

Is an appointment guaranteed after I apply?

No. We can support up to two households per monthly window during the October 15, 2026–January 14, 2027 pilot, subject to suitable work and available capacity. Applying does not reserve a visit. We will let you know if we cannot help or ask whether you would like us to keep your request for a later opening. This is not an emergency service.

Does the program cover the whole GTA?

The initial pilot is limited to the City of Toronto, including North York, Scarborough, Etobicoke, York and East York. Our regular paid services cover a wider area, but this pilot has a smaller travel boundary.

Can the furniture be donated or already owned?

Tell us what you have and its condition. Any already-owned, donated or partially assembled item needs a condition review before acceptance. Parts and product instructions must be available as needed, and we do not repair damaged furniture or take on unsafe items.

Do I need a referral or proof of income?

No agency referral is required. A brief self-description is enough to start. We do not ask for income documents, identification or medical records. We may ask follow-up questions about the practical work and whether it fits the program.

Can I refer a friend, family member or client?

Yes, with their permission. Tell us whether we should contact you first or the household directly, and what communication is safe. Without permission, send a general eligibility question that does not identify the person.

Do I have to agree to photos, a review or social media?

No. None of those affect eligibility or the support offered. Any publicity permission would be requested separately, without pressure, after the service decision.

For neighbours and community organizations

Know someone who could use a hand?

Support workers, housing teams, community organizations, friends and family can refer a household with permission. Please share the practical furniture need, not a case file or personal history.
